Public Health Addendum to UN City Disaster Resilience Scorecard

Practical Application

  1. Download the City Scorecard and the PHA and become familiar with the contents.
  2. Assemble stakeholder group (as many as possible – you may not get them all).
  3. Identify any external resources and data you may need, including:
    • Public health system capacity, stakeholders, planning and procedural documentation.
    • Demographic data, including for vulnerable populations;
    • Emergency management planning and procedural documentation;
    • Public health infrastructure (see Essential 8 of the City Scorecard);
    • Data on healthcare outcomes of previous disasters, if available;
    • Community and professional feedback on system capacity and effectiveness.
  4. Complete the Addendum and, as necessary, the City Scorecard
  5. Analyze results and identify required actions to improve resilience. Mold these into a program and secure funding.  Guidance on this step can be found at: https://www.undrr.org/publications/Scorecard-ActionGuide-Ch2 and is also covered separately in this database [ref to follow].
  6. Implement, assess results and adjust as required.
